Both of the ASUS G11CD-WS51, ASUS G11CD-WS51 + Monitor packages are good deals. Especially if your in need of a monitor(its 1600 x 900). If neither of the ASUS's are in stock go with the Dell 8900 or the Alienware X51-8gb all priced under $1600

The Alienware X51-16GB, Alienware Area 51, Asus G20CB-WS51, and Asus G20CB-WS71 don't offer enough performance for the increase in price.

Note: ASUS voids warranty if you remove the side panel to do any upgrades. I'm still uncertain about the other brands.

The DIY is just meant to show the type of value you can get for the money. The price can vary a lot depending on the product you choose.

    Pics and reviews:
Dell 8900 Review appears to be the Oculus Ready PC
ASUS G11CD Youtube video. Oculus Ready??
A look inside the Area 51 This is NOT the Oculus ready but should give you an idea of the room you have to work.
ASUS ROG G20 Youtube Video. Again NOT the Oculus ready version but does show the layout of the case internals.
Alienware Area-51 Same processor and memory at the Oculus ready version but has 3 GTX 980s instead of 1.

If anyone has one of these computers feel free to post up your experience with it.

Any idea what PC would be easiest to upgrade? I've read some PC manufacturers use certain proprietary components making upgrades complicated.

It's hard to say what the longevity of the rig will be without a motherboard spec. Has anyone purchased one of these pre-built towers and can comment on what MB it's running?

Personally, I prefer to source and build my own desktops.

All should be upgrade-able I would think. Judging by case size the ASUS G11, Dell 8900, and Alienware Area51 should be the easiest. You will have less room to work in the Alienware X51 and ASUS G20 because of the smaller form factor case but it should be doable.

edit: Just noticed the warranty is voided if you open up the case of the ASUS PC. Not sure about other brands.

I have no info on MB. I may try and source some internal pics of the PC's as that should be help to some.

I prefer to build my own also:D

    “Hey guys!

Great discussion going here and some solid advice!

I’ve set myself a budget of $700 for my first gun and am still not sure which one to get.

I’ve been reading some reviews on this site http://havethisbeast.com/best-vr-headsets-2017/ and am considering the OCULUS RIFT.

Does anyone here actually own either of these? What are your experiences?”

    Hello fellow VR lovers!

I am Fjolla from Zombie Soup and I am so excited to tell you about a VR game that we just launched.
It's called Captain 13 - Beyond the Hero and you can find it on the Oculus Store.
We would highly appreciate if you could take the time to review our game.
Looking forward for positive comments! [IMG]
